Sarangani Province is rich in marine resources, they’re
known as a great diving spot and a hotspot for beach parties, but more than
that there lays an adventure we need to get off on our bucket list – I’m
talking about the Paragliding Adventure.
We stayed at Sarangani Highlands Garden, but if you’re a
backpacker or on a tight budget I suggest you stay at the tent city, it’s also
a one good addition for adventure seekers. The flying site is located at Saffi
Ranch-1 Maasim Sarangani Province. We were up as early as 6 a.m. and headed to the
flying site around 7 a.m.

After the meet and greet they immediately oriented us with
the key points in flying which I’ll be telling you as well in the latter part.
As we were all set, we right away head to the flying station located at top of
the mountain. We rode the van, passed by the crooked, steep, bumpy road – it
was like the foreplay part or the excitement phase before the orgasmic release
of the adrenaline haha.
After the 8 minutes ride, at last we already arrived at the
flying site. My tandem Pilot was Sir. Carlaa (don’t be confused he’s a guy
haha). We then suited up; as he was securing the gears he was also calming my
nerves. Though in my case I wasn’t scared, in fact I’m super excited to run off
the cliff and fly, the only problem was I have a petite frame and since we’re
up against the direction of the wind the assist pilot had no choice but to drag
me upon launching haha.
When we were already soaring the feeling is indescribable.
Being up in the air was the best feeling I felt by far. My eyes can’t describe
how beautiful it is to see the things from that angle. I was welcomed by the
scenic view of the Sarangani Bay, picturesque terrain of the mountain with
mixture of greens and whites brought by the trees, grass and limestone – it was
just breathtaking. The air whispering on my ears, the sun shining all over the place,
it was the most magnificent angle one could possible see - stunning.
My tandem Pilot Carlaa was so cool he made my adventure more
memorable. He went extreme, from left to right and gone to 360 degrees, he even
offered me to try to maneuver the parachute, which of course I tried to but
failed to reach the handles so I l just leave it all the flying aspect part to
him haha. We chatted a little bit he encouraged me to shout, then pose from
time to time since we have a gopro with us.
During the landing we didn’t hit the white landing bull-eyes
spot but nonetheless it was a great landing, it wasn’t as hard as I thought it
would be. The moment I landed I can’t help but pose with a double thumbs up,
almost all my poses for the photos have double thumbs up which I rarely do, I guess I was really on high. I stayed up there for about 10minutes and I
can honestly say it was the best 10minutes of my life.
I went home with a happy heart and bragging rights of course
haha. And until now every time I look at the photos watch the video, I still
get the same high I had. Indeed an adventure you should never missed. You’re
not getting any younger so run off the cliff and paraglide. Took to you on my
next chasing the sun adventure! xoxo -Dawn Villahermosa
